Restoring Power
There were a few loud clicks and soft whirls coming from the garage. Next thing we knew, there was a power cut and for a couple of seconds, everything went silent before the backup battery kicked in and everything reset and came back to life.
Welcome to rural living. Out here in rural Auckland, power lines can be old and power can ocassionally cut out. Apart from the usual suspects that don’t work when power is out, fridges and lights, electrical power is required to pump water from our tanks and run our sewage system. Simply put, without power, we can’t drink or flush.
We reached out to our rural mains company and asked for help. It took two visits, but thankfully power came back on after 4 hours.
