There has been and will be many firsts with Artie. He fills our hearts with joy and this day was the same. We brought Artie to Clarks Beach, a sheltered beach 30 mins away from us, for his first swim in the sea. We’ve brought Artie there as a fresh faced puppy earlier in the year but we kept him on the lead and did not attempt getting him into the sea.
10 months on from that day, Artie has grown into a confident boy who loves walks, especially those walks where he gets to meet other people and dogs. 18 months ago, in between dogs, we saw a dog at the domain a year ago, looking back constantly at his carers while wandering free and watching their lead. We dreamt a dream then that we would work towards training ourselves and our next dog to behave the same way. I think we’re on the right path towards that dream. We’ve tested his recall ability in local parks and he scored perfectly. It is time for his time on the beach.
